Lawo Introduces Touchscreen Talent Panel
Tue 16, 04 2019
Visitors to the Lawo booth at NAB 2019 would have been treated to a new way of thinking about studio control panels with the introduction of VisTool Solo, a new lightweight software product designed to give broadcasters better access to the controls they use every day.
“Graphical user interfaces have revolutionized broadcasting,” says Lawo Radio Marketing specialist Clark Novak. “Broadcasters routinely use touchscreen GUIs for routing control, playout systems and even virtual mixing consoles. VisTool Solo brings that same ease of use to talent positions, too.”
Based on Lawo’s popular VisTool GUI-builder software, VisTool Solo enables broadcasters to design custom single-page displays that run on Windows®-based tablet PCs — replacing hardwired pushbutton panels with a modern, graphical interface; perfect at producer, host, guest and news positions.
Portability is an added bonus: no more cutting into countertops or running cables; simply connect a VisTool Solo tablet to the studio network via wi-fi, and the control panels can go where the talent goes: studios, production rooms, news booths — anywhere in your facility.
“The capabilities that have made VisTool so indispensable for building context-sensitive studio control screens are now available in VisTool Solo,” says Novak. “A library of vector graphics lets you design custom panels with buttons, meters, timers, clocks and more. You can make selector panels, on/off/mute controls, even give talent control of virtual faders. And it’s uses aren’t limited to talent: producers and station engineers will find plenty of applications for VisTool Solo, too.”
Lawo designs and manufactures pioneering network, control, audio and video technology for broadcast and post production, as well as live performance and theatrical applications, developed in Germany and manufactured according to highest quality standards at the company’s headquarters in the Rhine valley town of Rastatt, Germany. Lawo’s line of physical and virtual radio solutions include ruby, sapphire, sapphire compact and crystal mixing surfaces, the Power Core mixing engine, crystal CLEAR and RƎLAY Virtual Radio Mixers, and advanced VisTool GUI-builder software, all designed to provide more capability for less cost.
