8.30am – 9.15am – Presentation and Panel Session – Adapting to a COTS Hardware World

There is no question that transitioning to off-the-shelf hardware is clearly the biggest topic in the manufacturing side, it’s also incredibly uncomfortable. As the industry is dealing with the chaos of IP, UHD, Cloud, HDR, blockchain, virtualization, artificial intelligence, cloud, streaming, targeted advertising, etc, it is actually COTS hardware that is perhaps the biggest reconciliation of the broadcast manufacturing industry in its history. Analog to digital, HD, file based workflows all pale in comparison to the idea that Broadcast Manufacturers may no longer make the hardware that the industry uses. In fact many end-users are clear that it’s the only thing they will look at going forward short of transmitters and studio equipment such as cameras and lighting, etc.

Paul Stechly – President at Applied Electronics Limited will present on his experience with COTS as a system integrator and product reseller. Scott Rothenberg – SVP, Technology & Asset Management, NEP Group will then give a short presentation on how he works with vendors and NEP’s clients that require COTS for various solutions.

We will follow this with a panel of Industry professionals chaired by Stan Moote.
