Produce traditional landscape (16:9) & vertical (9:16) video from a single 4K camera with built-in streaming. The KMU-200 allows users to output multiple landscapes or portrait pictures simultaneously just by creating cutouts of a 4K input using the 14” touch screen. The V__matrix ecosystem can be divided into two parts: physical and virtual. The physical consists of the C100 processing blade and associated hardware which provides the compute and processing capacity of the platform; the more compute power you have the more functions you can run. Since V__matrix is a fully IP-based platform, the C100 processing blade can be placed anywhere there is an IP network. It can be decentralized and spread over one or more facilities or centralized in a core facility or OB truck. A hybrid approach is also possible where some core equipment is kept on-site while a pool of processing power is kept in a remote data center. This decentralized approach allows the technical operation center to be situated in a purpose-built data center outside of town where space, power and cooling is inexpensive, while talent and studios can be in another area.

The virtual world is centered around the software which defines the functionality of the platform. Available transitions include:

• Cut: When you press the cut button, ATEM instantly changes from your current program source to the preview source. Cuts can be performed by directly selecting sources or by pressing the cut button to switch to the next source.


• Mix: The mix, or dissolve, gradually transitions from one source to the next by creating a smooth blend. You can set custom timings to manually blend the transition.


• Dip: Just like mix transitions, a dip transition is a gradual blend that includes either a solid color, graphic, or another clip between the two video sources. Dips to black or white between sources are the most popular, or you can use logos or sponsor graphics.


• Wipe: Built-in wipe patterns include circles, diamonds, squares, and more. Shapes and patterns can be inverted or softened and can even have customized colored borders.


• DVE: With the powerful built-in digital video effects processor, or DVE, you can push, spin, squeeze, or swoosh your live video from one camera to the next with incredible built-in transitions. DVE transitions can be flip-flopped and reversed, giving you even more transition options.

Layer live video over other video sources or graphics with the upstream keyer. You can use the luma key, linear key, pattern key, or shoot against a green screen and use chroma key to instantly composite the video over virtual sets.

• Luma key: Luma keys work best with high-contrast images, like white elements on a black background, so you can use the contrast to cut the black background and replace it with live video or graphics.


• Linear key: Get clean, high-quality results with linear keying by using two separate sources for the fill and the key to create one video image. The fill signal contains the video to be stacked over the background, while the key signal contains a gray scale mask to cut out, or mask, the area to be filled.


• Chroma key: Used every day for TV weather forecasts, chroma keys are a powerful way of combining live images in real time. The presenter typically stands in front of a green or blue background and the chroma keyer will remove only that color and combine it with another image, such as a video or graphic.


• Pattern key: Combine live images with any of the built-in wipe patterns to combine live images or graphics with geometric shapes. You get full control over softness, symmetry, size, and position to create unique picture-in-picture effects that can be transitioned to as easily as any live source.

The ATEM Mini switcher includes one downstream keyer, so you can add high-quality graphics like logos, bugs, and titles from the built-in media player over the live stream program output. Downstream keyers are the last layers of keying, so they overlay all video switched to the main program output.

The built-in audio mixer lets you control both camera and external audio with precision level and balance adjustments on all six available audio inputs and two channels. The mixer features selectable on/off and audio-follow-video per channel, plus it has separate gain control per channel, level and peak metering, and new Fairlight audio enhancements such as compressor, gate, limiter, six bands of parametric EQ, and master gain control.

RouteMaster Lite brings familiar video routing capabilities to Newtek’s NDI® video. Based on our proven RouteMaster system, it gives operators a range of familiar control interfaces for controlling video switching.

Switching is suitable for all live, on-air applications, making RouteMaster Lite ideal for fast manual intervention.

No video streams are passed through the router system, instead traffic is redirected at the network level.  This means only minimal bandwidth and processor requirements are needed, regardless of the number of video streams and resolution. There’s also no additional video delay through the system. Additionally, RouteMaster Lite does not become a central point of failure: If the router system fails for any reason, video continues to flow from sources to destinations uninterrupted.

RouteMaster Lite is ideal for OB and production environments, supporting up to 20 sources and 20 destinations. For larger systems with more complex requirements, the same NDI switching technology is available in the full-featured RouteMaster system.

The built-in GUI is ideal for preset and take switching, showing resizeable video previews and audio metering  of the current video and the chosen source.

Beyond the essential roles it fulfils in any production environment, this comprehensive unit offers 4 additional features with the addition of an MFR-31VP video processing card. With the card, the MFR-3100EX provides video switcher function, NDI®/NDI®|HX I/O, video streaming, and SSD storage.

Video switcher function (MFR-31VP)

Add an MFR-31VP card to expand the unit with 1 M/E and 20 inputs/13 outputs video switcher function. Take advantage of NDI®/NDI®|HX I/O and 4 keyers for P-in-P or downstream keying. Frame synchronization, 12G-SDI, audio mixing/de-mixing, and other expansion are supported with other options.

Software control panel MFR-CTSP

With the MFR-CTSP software control panel, all video switcher functions can be controlled with touch panel operations.

NDI®and NDI®|HX Supported (MFR-31VP)

Send or receive video and audio, control signals, and tally control over IP. With NewTek NDI® Tools installed, MFR-3100EX supports meeting collaboration software such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet.

Video streaming function (MFR-31VP)

Provides RTMP and SRT support. Upload video directly to YouTube, Facebook, or other streaming services. YouTube streaming can be checked by scanning a QR code with a smartphone.

SSD

SSD storage function (MFR-31VP) can be installed. It enables recording/playing video and audio. Material supplied via SDI or over the network can be encoded and saved as files. Saved files can be decoded for output via SDI or over the network.

Multi viewer function

Multi viewer function is a standard feature of the built-in web server, which provides a web-based control interface. Add MFR-16MV cards for more sophisticated viewer capabilities such as dual output and clock display.

Browser-based multi viewer

Check source material easily through the built-in web server, saving outputs for other sources. For input channels (1–64) and video switcher function output, up to 64 windows can be displayed per screen.

MFR-16MV

Up to 2 outputs/16 split-windows are available with an optional MFR-16MV installed. Unlike conventional systems that require allocation of 1 output per window displayed by an external multi viewer, this functionality reduces multi viewer output allocation to 1 output per monitor.  Because of the MFR-16V’s ability to handle multiple outputs, all signals sent to those destinations can be monitored on the MFR-16MV. Up to 16 split-windows and 2 types of clock display are supported.

Routing switcher function

With its routing switcher function, the MFR-3100EX can be configured for a matrix up to 64x72, with 4 inputs/4 outputs for 8K signals or 16 inputs/18 outputs for 4K UHD. Matrix expansion and redundancy is possible by using multiple units together. With options, conversion between 12G-SDI, Quad Link 3G-SDI, and mapping formats (2SI and SQD) are also available. A variety of cross-point controls are supported in addition to standard cross-point switching.

Multi-format video input and output, and MUX and DEMUX audio are available

Support for 3G/HD/SD-SDI and DVB-ASI input and output. No need to worry about signal formats, thanks to auto signal detection.  Add up to 8 inputs cards and up to 9 outputs card, with 8 channels per card. Can mix and match non-SDI modules as needed. Optimizes the system to install frame synchronizer function for input, and ADVL function for outputs. Audio MUX and DEMUX functions also offer greater video and audio compatibility.

Connectivity with other products

Connectivity with other products including FOR-A video switchers and multi viewers via ethernet or serial ports. MFR routing switcher cross-points can be controlled from HVS video switchers and HVS and MFR exchange tally information with each other. Integrated management of source names by MFR, which automatically send source names to HVS and MV multi viewers. Source names and tally linkage between MFR and MV are controlled by TSL protocol.

GUI-based configuration

Serving as an SNMP agent, the MFR-3100EX can simultaneously send traps to two SNMP managers for monitoring information about all devices connected to the MFR-LAN.
