The IABM attends the EBU Technical Committee meetings, giving the IABM an opportunity to consult EBU members on technology topics of interest.
The ABU, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014, has more than 272 member broadcasters large and small spread across the region’s 67 countries, from Turkey in the west to Samoa in the east, and from Russia in the north to New Zealand in the south.
The IABM is an affiliate member of the ABU, and we send a representative to attend its annual Technical Committee meetings. This also gives the IABM an opportunity to consult with ABU members on technology topics that concern their region. The region embraces the greatest range of technology as it includes leading-edge broadcasters along with developing nations. Interestingly, some developing nations are able to “leapfrog” to the latest technology – for instance, DVB-T2 with no DVB-T heritage.
