IDX Develop New Li-Ion Batteries To Beat The Power Drain
Article
IDX Technology Europe has announced the launch of two new high draw Lithium Ion batteries called the ENDURA-HL9 and ENDURA-HL9S. With the power consumption of modern High Definition camera set-ups greater than ever, they are capable of taking an impressive 10A / 120W sustained current draw. Both models use a new grade of durable lithium ion cells which result in a considerably longer lifecycle compared to other battery models, so users can expect to achieve upwards of 500 cycles.
Each battery has a universal V-Mount connection and provides a minimum of 88Wh of capacity, with the premium E-HL9 model featuring Digi-View, BMS and the unique PowerLink function. By clipping a second E-HL9 battery to the first, PowerLink allows the user to double the available capacity to at least 176Wh, including the ability to hot-swap or add a second E-HL9 battery at any time for continuous shooting.
Digi-View technology will transfer the remaining battery capacity data to the camera viewfinder and, through the E-HL9 in-built CPU, key performance data such as the discharge cycles, remaining capacity and peak loads are stored for subsequent access and monitoring through IDX’s Battery Management Software (BMS). The E-HL9S model is an economical option for camera users, delivering the same 88Wh of capacity but without the PowerLink, Digi-View or BMS features.
The E-HL9 and E-HL9S are perfect for use in cold weather conditions with excellent low temperature discharge characteristics, even down to -20°C, as they do not exhibit the type of sharp voltage drop-off that usually occurs with most other Li-ion battery models. They are compatible with all existing IDX ENDURA V-Mount chargers and accessories
The E-HL9 will start shipping from the middle of July while the E-HL9S will be available from the start of September.
