Polar Graphics Expands Digital Content Storage Range
Article
Polar Graphics a distributor of digital content storage products to the European market have recently expanded their storage portfolio by adding Dulce Systems storage solutions
Dulce Systems based in California emerged from the talented minds behind some of the best known storage vendors in the world and have introduced an interesting range of storage systems for the digital video and multimedia sectors. Dulce offer products ranging from FireWire to SATA to Fibre with performance characteristics suitable for applications in the Video, multimedia and IT markets. New products just released at NAB include the PRO RX -12, and -16 bay rack mount RAID able to deliver 800MB/s and offering raid modes of 0, 1, 3, 5 and 6, and the PRO FC dual channel 4 Gb Fibre Channel Arrays.
The Dulce Disc arrays offer a high level of performance and reliability and are probably the quietest raids in this market!
Other products in the Polar storage portfolio include the Facilis 'TerraBlock'. This is a high performance Shared Storage system for Post Production workgroups. The TerraBlock integrates all SAN components into a single unit and uses high performance fibre channel connectivity with the possibility of directly connecting clients to the system without the need for switches. By integrating all components into a single unit it allows for far better performance, ease of maintenance and removes the need and cost associated with client software.
New TerraBlock features released at NAB included 8Gbit fibre channel connectivity for multi-stream HD and 2K playback workstations. Faster iSCSI connectivity through 10Gbit Ethernet or 1Gbit Ethernet link aggregation allowing support for uncompressed video. Enhanced Linux support including qualification of Autodesk Smoke and Flame, and file sharing option.
