Software Generation Ltd (SGL) is a provider of Content Archive and Storage Management software solutions. SGL, still the only integrated archive solution currently sold by Avid for the Avid Interplay non-linear workflow engine, will have a fully functional, fully integrated Avid Interplay on its booth, which will be demonstrated by first-class demo artists. As part of this workflow, SGL will introduce FlashBrowse and FlashBox to the European broadcast market. Integration, strong business benefits, system expansion and low cost of ownership are the focal issues for any broadcaster and these points will be key to the demonstration.

FlashBrowse
Making its European debut, FlashBrowse is SGL's new archive access tool that enables browse copies of material to be created and stored providing a fast, cost-effective solution for viewing content stored in the archive. FlashBrowse provides an interface, independent of the archive control system, which could be a production system such as Avid, allowing material to be searched and viewed and then restored back into the online environment.

FlashBox
SGL's new, all-in-one solution starts with a combined disk and tape archive providing up to 1,000 hours of entry level storage up to 25 Mbit/s, based on LTO4 tape drive technology. FlashBox provides a number of technology and business benefits including, scalable disk and tape storage. FlashBox can be expanded internally from its entry-level capacity up to nearly 5,000 hours of 25Mbit/s media archive.

Integration with Marquis Medway Media Highway - SGL's FlashNet and FlashBox now integrate with Marquis Medway Media Highway. This integration enhances the enterprise capabilities of FlashNet and allows the transcode of physical essence and metadata between multiple formats including Avid and Quicktime as well as a number of other MXF formats in both SD and HD standards, and DNxHD.

SGL will also be demonstrating:
Flashnet 6.2 - SGL will demonstrate an evolution of the highly successful Version 6. Available on the Microsoft Windows SQL platform, with Microsoft Clustering technology, FlashNet has rapidly become an integral part of the lifecycle and media management solutions adopted by all of the leading video server, automation, NLE and asset management vendors worldwide. FlashNet provides a scalable solution with unlimited storage capacity, unrivalled redundancy and resilience. Version 6.2 provides enhanced archive management, integration and device control capabilities.
