  • The successful candidate will need to design, develop and test electronics and software based products.
  • The job is suited to an experienced engineer with 5 years or more experience in a similar role.
  • Working as part of the Engineering team, reporting to the Head of Software and Electronics Engineering.

Experience and knowledge required in the following areas:

  • Analogue and Digital Circuit Design (SMPS, micro, etc.) 
  • Schematic Capture (Preferably Altium) 
  • Embedded C (preferably Microchip PIC18/32) 
  • Driver interfacing to SPI, I2C, RS485, CAN and Ethernet. 
  • Development of network communications such as TCP/IP, UDP and SNMP 

Experience in the following would be advantageous: 

  • FPGA / PLD (Verilog/VHDL) 
  • DSP 
  • Embedded Web

Principal RF Design Engineer E14-FY17 at ETL Systems

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our growing Engineering department.  This position will take a key design role in the RF & Microwave design team working proactively on commercial projects as well as R&D work.  You will be working on a broad range of products including passive and active circuit designs, with a particular bias towards leading the RF Amplifier and ETL Components product lines.

We are looking for an RF and Microwave Design Engineer with extensive hardware development experience. This role is best suited to passionate individuals with a strong background and knowledge in the fields of RF design and technologies.

Experience of designing and developing a range of RF and Microwave products over the spectrum of DC-6GHz is essential, with experience up to Ku/K/Ka bands being highly desirable.  You will also lead the design and development of new ranges of products, including technical documentation.  This role requires an excellent understanding of interaction and relationships between key parameters including gain, power levels, linearity, VSWR, NF, signal related spurii etc. Some knowledge of the Satellite Communications industry/technologies/techniques is desirable.

You will be a strong team player, able to operate as both an innovator and an implementer.  A strong analytical approach is desired with a clear track record of success and delivery to cost and timescales, benefitted by your commercial understanding. In addition to this, you will have the ability to lead projects or small teams and mentor junior colleagues.

Experience and knowledge required in the following areas:

  • FPGA: Verilog/VHDL 
  • Altium design: SMPS, Microcontroller, Analogue/Digital
