Winners of 2012 Corporate Engagement Awards announced at gala dinner
19 Sep 2012Communicate magazine is proud to announce the winners of the 2012 Corporate Engagement Awards. At last night’s gala dinner, hosted by the BBC’s Will Gompertz, gold, silver and bronze awards were distributed to the best in corporate sponsorship and philanthropy.
We are pleased to announce that the evening’s Grand Prix went to Volunteer It Yourself, a partnership between Wickes, Pimlico Plumbers, A4e, London Youth and Vinspired. The programme also took home Gold awards for Best collaborative approach and Best community involvement in a sponsorship activity. The Volunteer It Yourself project which was sponsored by Wickes and Pimlico Plumbers, engaged teenagers in community service while preparing them for apprenticeship schemes in the trades. It was the Grand Prix winner on the basis of this collaborative approach to corporate philanthropy.
The awards shortlist featured 26 unique entries across 15 categories. Gold awards went to 11 different programmes. Both the Lansons Communications partnership with HighTide Festival Theatre and What Car?’s programme with Slingshot Sponsorship took home two gold awards.
Communicate magazine’s publisher Andrew Thomas says the strength of this year’s entries made this year’s CEA a true celebration of excellence in corporate engagement.
“This year's Corporate Engagement Awards saw a 48% increase in entries, but if quality could be expressed in percentage terms it would be much higher,” he says. “Maybe it was the start of the Olympics effect, but companies seemed much more articulate in stating their corporate sponsorship objectives and defining it in terms of brand and reputation. All shortlisted companies have demonstrated a clear desire to fulfil their social contract; those that won have excelled. We congratulate them all.”
The awards were judged by a panel of experts in corporate responsibility, sponsorship and community affairs. Entries were sorted into five categories including: Focus, Objective, Type, Activity and Sponsored Organisations, within which one to five awards were distributed. The full list of the evening’s winners is available on Communicate’s website.
The evening’s festivities took place at the Victory Services Club and were sponsored by World Television, Studio Precept, Clear Blue Productions and Mynewsdesk.
