ARCHIVE AND RESTORATION FACILITY TKONE CHOOSES GOLDEN EYE III FILM SCANNER

20 Jun 2012

TKone, a leading film and video archive restoration facility, has installed a Digital Vision Golden Eye III film scanner. Based in its London headquarters, the Golden Eye III scanner will allow TKone to service a variety of archives, working on major European preservation projects allowing easy access to content whilst future proofing valuable ‘heritage’ assets.

With a legacy of proven reliability and quality, the Golden Eye III scanner with LED light source heralds a new era of affordable, high-resolution film scanning at high volumes. It’s being used by TKone on widely diverse film elements, from early black and white film from the 1900s right up to current 35mm colour negative.

One of the most highly respected names in the archive and restoration business, and Managing Director of TKone, Alf Penn explains, “With the advent of high-definition broadcasting the technical bar has been raised. As a result we offer a film scanning service alongside the existing HD telecine service to meet the demands of clients needing picture scanning at 2K quality. We chose Golden Eye after looking at scanners currently available in the market and felt it was the most flexible machine, providing value for money and the support we have received from Digital Vision has been exemplary.”

Greg Holland, Sales Manager, Digital Vision adds, “The Golden Eye scanner has been specifically designed to guarantee the highest picture quality achievable and safe handling for any archive film format. The addition of our Phoenix restoration software and intelligent metadata based workflow Automap makes TKone's offering ground-breaking, unique and highly effective even for its most demanding clients."
