Mediasmiths and The White Room to Merge
18 Jun 2012Mediasmiths International and The White Room are pleased to announce the merger of both organisations. This is a natural progression from the close working relationship the two companies have enjoyed over the past three years, during which time they have been working collaboratively to provide services to their customers.
The merger brings together two of the most innovative companies in the media technology sector and presents a unique, end to end service offering for existing and new customers. There has always been a close cultural fit between both organisations, and the merger is seen as a way of deriving incremental benefits from a more integrated service offering.
The White Room will continue to provide training and change management work as part of the Mediasmiths Group, but these services will be more tightly integrated with existing Mediasmiths services in advice, media technology systems design and implementation.
Andy Lovatt, MD of The White Room, will become the General Manager of the UK business, and Michael McNamara, FD, will become the FD for the Group. Niall Duffy, currently MD of Mediasmiths, will become the group CEO with a focus on co-ordinating the business development activities of the group.
Niall Duffy commented “The deal was an obvious next step from our historic collaboration. Together we can now offer an end to end service from design through to post-implementation transformation. But crucially, Andy and Michael will significantly strengthen our management capability, allowing the combined business to continue to grow”. Andy Lovatt added “This merger creates a unique entity in the market, that marries media technology expertise with transformation and change management. It provides opportunities not only in Broadcast but in other media and content-rich industries.”
While Mediasmiths will continue to concentrate on broadcast systems, the merger opens the way for a planned expansion into the wider digital media space, combining Mediasmiths technical design and systems integration capability with The White Room’s expertise in the application of change management in transforming industries. One of the key focus areas will be ‘social business’, i.e. the application of collaboration and knowledge management technology to improve productivity and sharing inside organisations.
